Why we've reformulated our best-selling product

Transparency is one of Be Levels ' most important values. Being honest about the reasons for each of the decisions we make as a company has been a matter of indisputability since our inception, and we want to keep it that way. That's why today we're telling you the story behind the change in the formulation of one of our best-selling supplements : Wake Up Mood . If there's one thing that characterizes Be Levels products, it's their dynamic nature. This means they're constantly being analyzed and evaluated to improve their formula . Not only by those of us involved in the formulation, but also by you, who use them, verify their effectiveness, and share your questions or concerns with us . And that's what you've done in this case.

Ribose, the component that was oxidized

Wake Up Mood's original formula contained ribose , a molecule that can oxidize over time when exposed to changes in light and temperature . This component caused some users to notice a darkening of the color of their capsules, leading them to believe the product was no longer valid or functional. The Wake Up Mood master formula would not lose its effectiveness due to this color change. However, we are aware that the belief that this oxidation makes the product less potent can affect the final result and, therefore, interfere with its results. Therefore, after receiving the initial feedback, we began studying the problem and looking for alternatives to resolve it. Ultimately, our team of formulators concluded that ribose should be replaced with niacin .

Niacin substitution, what is it?

This new component corresponds to vitamin B3 , present in foods in two different forms. On the one hand, as nicotinic acid , commonly found in plants, and on the other, as nicotinamide , which is the form of this vitamin we identify in animals. It's important to emphasize that neither is better than the other. They are simply two molecules that differ in the composition of their atoms but have the same effectiveness. Vitamin B3 has very interesting properties , being a precursor to the formation of both important molecules for the potential energy of each cell and antioxidant molecules within them. Furthermore, niacin participates in the formation of the molecule nicotinamide dinucleotide, known as NAD+ in biochemical schemes, which acts on the sirtuin PARP pathways.

The role of Niacin in sirtuin pathways

Delving deeper into the importance of sirtuins, these pathways are found in different tissues. For example, sirtuin 3 is located in muscle tissue. There, they have been shown to generate proteins at the mitochondrial level , thanks to the increase in plasma niacin. Thus, as a precursor to a nucleotide, it acts as if it itself generated the increased expression of these proteins, as well as others involved in anti-inflammatory pathways. We can say that nicotinamide is a very valuable component. In optimal quantities, it allows for the proper synthesis of antioxidant molecule pathways responsible for activating the sirtuin pathway, essential for regulating our circadian rhythms . Not to mention that they also play a fundamental role in improving our mitochondrial metabolism due to their participation in mitochondrial biogenesis.

Main benefits of changing the formula

Therefore, replacing Ribose with Niacin will allow us to eradicate the problem of capsule oxidation and also:
  1. Improve mitochondrial biogenesis
  2. Optimize the synthesis of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecules
  3. Perfecting our biorhythms by increasing the expression of sirtuins and nicotinamide dinucleotide
Likewise, we must not overlook the fact that, thanks to this change, the recommended dose will be much more convenient , going from 5 to 3 capsules per day. This is because the volume of niacin is much smaller than that of ribose. This means that the optimal amount of each active ingredient can be concentrated in a smaller number of capsules while maintaining the same effectiveness. Finally, it's important to note that niacin helps activate the synthesis of all these molecular pathways when circadian rhythms are aligned. Therefore, we can enhance the benefits of this new component with healthy habits . Some examples include sun exposure, maintaining a sleep routine consistent with circadian rhythms, or practicing intermittent fasting during the day.
