#73 - Nacer importa con Laia Casadevall

In the interview with Laia Casadevall we will explore her experience and knowledge about motherhood and childbirth from various perspectives . In the first part, we will talk about her training and the differences in pregnancy and childbirth care between Spain and other countries, addressing topics such as the lack of midwives, the view of pregnancy as a disease and the comparison between the health systems of Spain and Switzerland. We will also discuss access to medical tests during pregnancy and regulations such as the ban on 3D, 4D and 5D ultrasounds.

In the central part, we will focus on childbirth itself: the cultural fear of childbirth, the use of oxytocin, the importance of intimacy in the process and the high rate of caesarean sections. We will also discuss Laia's experience with home births and the need for a more respectful and evidence-based approach. To close, we will address the role of the father in parenting, the postpartum period and the lack of support for mothers at this stage, ending with a block dedicated to breastfeeding, its benefits and the challenges faced by many women in this process.
